A Stay at the Basecamp Hotel

After a long day on your jet ski rental enjoying the sun’s rays and the sparkling clear depths of Lake Tahoe, it can be difficult to leave the beauty of the outdoors. Camping, however, isn’t always worth the hassle. Luckily, we’ve found a better option: Basecamp Hotel in South Lake Tahoe offers the charm of camp life, combined with the comforts of a luxurious hotel.

Located on Cedar Avenue, Basecamp Hotel is just a ten-minute walk from the shores of Lake Tahoe. The building that now houses the hotel originally contained the Block, a hotel that went out of business in 2010. Basecamp Hotel’s owner, Christian Strobel, saw the need for an affordable hotel with a green focus. He bought the old Block building in 2011 and renovated it, installing energy-efficient heaters, water-saving toilets, and other energy-saving measures. The hotel, now revitalized with stylish décor and inviting communal spaces, reopened in June of 2012.

Basecamp Hotel’s rooms are stylishly decorated, with modern furnishings and original art by a local California artist. Each room has its own theme, and all are designed to provide a relaxing environment that retains the important elements of roughing it in the great outdoors. Baseboards made of reclaimed barn wood and lantern-inspired lighting, combined with brightly-colored Adirondack chairs and even a few fireplaces, make staying in this hotel as close to camping as you’ll get without setting up a tent. The Great Indoors room even has a canvas tent over the bed!

Every room at Basecamp Hotel includes a 32” flat-screen television, organic teas and coffees, high speed internet (both wired and wireless), and a complimentary continental breakfast. Three times a week, the hotel offers communal meals, allowing visitors to break bread with other travelers. You’ll enjoy drinking hot chocolate and local brews at the hotel’s bar, sharing stories and tips of the best places to visit with your boat rental. Rooms start at $89 a night, and some are even pet-friendly.

There are so many places to explore in your boat rental that you’ll definitely want to book several nights at Basecamp Hotel. H2O Craft Rentals provides high-quality jet ski rentals and ski boat rentals to Lake Tahoe’s many visitors.
